The promised land for the Israelites is the land that God promised them, that is, promised. What is the Promised Land?
Judaism is a monotheistic religion and their holy book is the Torah. There are some beliefs in Judaism and Islam. Belief in an afterlife, tawhid, prophecy, and a messiah are some of the examples that can be given to them. There are two distinguishing features that distinguish Judaism from other religions; one is the belief in “chosenness” and the other is belief in the “promised land”. In the Torah, the promised land and the belief in chosenness complement each other. In Judaism, God created the world out of nothing and is the owner of everything. According to this belief, God gives the land he wants to whom he wants, and no one can object to this. Thus, God gave the land now in Palestine to Abraham and his descendants forever.
What is the Promised Land?
The Promised Land is the name given by God to the promised land to Abraham and his descendants. The exact boundaries of this region are not clear. However, it is believed that this is the territory that today includes the territories of Palestine and Israel. The following words occur in chapter 15 of the book of Genesis of the Torah:
“On that day, the Lord made a covenant with Abraham and said: “From the river of Egypt to the great river, to the river Euphrates, I gave this land to your offspring, Keni and Kenizzi, and Kadmoni, and the Hittites, and the Perizzites, and the Rephas, and the Amorites, and the Canaanites, and the Girgash, and the Jebusites.”
Given these words, the vast area from the Euphrates to the Nile is among the promised lands for the children of Israel. However, this definition is still under debate because its boundaries are not fully defined.
Türkiye in the promised land?
As we have just mentioned, for these lands the definition of a very large area from the Euphrates to the Nile is used. The Euphrates River defines the boundaries of the provinces of Tunceli, Sivas, Erzincan, Erzurum, Sanliurfa, Elazig, Diyarbakir, Gaziantep, Adiyaman and Malatya in our country. Then he enters the territory of Syria, and then Iraq.
Accordingly, Türkiye is within the promised land.
The Nile River flows through 11 African countries. These countries are Egypt, Democratic Republic of the Congo, Rwanda, South Sudan, Ethiopia, Kenya, Burundi, Tanzania, Uganda, Sudan and Eritrea. Given the definition of “a very large region from the Euphrates to the Nile”, this region covers a large territorial integrity.
