The World Bank Group’s Board of Executive Directors has announced that it will consider US nominee Ajay Bang as no other nominations have been made.
The World Bank statement stated that the deadline for nominating candidates for the post of President of the World Bank Group is March 29.
The statement noted that only one person had been nominated for the position in question and Ajay Banga from the United States would be considered for the position.
The announcement said that the board of executive directors will conduct a formal interview with the presidential candidate in accordance with established procedures, and that the election of the chairman is expected to be completed on time.
World Bank President David Malpass announced in February that he was stepping down from his four-year post.
Following the Malpass decision, U.S. President Joe Biden announced that he had nominated former Chief Executive Officer (CEO) Mastercard Ajay Banga for the presidency of the World Bank.
