The Oscar ceremony took place this year for the 95th time. The awards ceremony, watched by moviegoers, took place at the Dolby Theater in Los Angeles and was hosted by Jimmy Kimmel. At last year’s awards show, famous actor Will Smith shocked everyone by punching his friend Chris Rock on stage. Fortunately, this year such an event did not happen and the awards ceremony went smoothly.
Winning the Best Picture award, Everything, Everywhere, was nominated in 11 categories and won seven awards. Most of these awards were presented in major categories such as Best Picture, Best Director, Best Original Screenplay, Best Supporting Actor and Actress. This success caused the film’s producers and cast to burst into tears in their acceptance speeches.
Michelle Yeoh won Best Actress, becoming the first Asian actress to win an Oscar. Another notable moment of the ceremony was Rihanna’s singing on stage. Rihanna, who is pregnant with her second child with her lover ASAP Rocky, surprised all the viewers and gathered applause. One of the notable films of the All Quiet on the Western Front season, Nothing New on the Western Front won three awards.
This year, instead of the traditional red carpet at the Oscars, a beige carpet was laid. Some celebrities have worn blue ribbons in support of the United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees (UNHCR) “I’m with the asylum seekers” campaign. Rihanna and Lady Gaga also took part in the ceremony’s musical performances. Lady Gaga changed the outfit in which she was at the beginning of the ceremony, and entered the stage without makeup in jeans and a T-shirt. Let’s take a closer look at the 2023 Oscar winners.
