Football is one of the most popular sports in the world. One of the most enjoyable elements of football is the goal. Because some goals can make millions of people experience great joy at the same time and make millions of people drown in sadness. However, there is another element that is as important as a goal in football: an assist. An assist in football terminology is roughly defined as “an assist”. However, the history of football is full of memorable assists that look much more aesthetically pleasing than any goal. In short, the players who prepare the goal are just as important as the goal-scoring players on the football team. That’s why the International Center for Sports Research (CIES) named last year’s “Kings of Assists.” Let’s look at the details together.
The International Center for Sports Research (CIES) has focused on matches played between March 1, 2022 and March 1, 2023 in 75 football leagues.
The center’s study listed the players who provided the most assistance among the respective dates.
The players with the most assists were ranked in two different categories.

In the first category, the players who scored the most assists “according to the difficulty level of the match” were determined. The second category listed the players with the most assists between March 1, 2022 and March 1, 2023.
Manchester City star Kevin De Bruyne is the player with the most assists in tough matches.

The 31-year-old Belgian star topped the list of 100 players with the most assists. The famous football player gave an assist 18 times in competitions in which he took part last year. Thus, he scored 23.4 points and took first place in the list of kings of passes, ranked by difficulty level. The level of difficulty of the competitions in which the star football player performed was rated at 1.30.
Ousmane Dembele, who plays for Barcelona, is in second place on the list.

Last year, the Frenchman made 17.5 assists on 17, which put him in second place behind Kevin de Bruyne. The difficulty level of the matches in which Dembele took part was declared as 1.25.
Argentinean world football star Lionel Messi has become the third player to score the most goals in high difficulty matches.

Messi, who plays for Paris Saint-Germain, managed to assist his teammates with 17 goals last year. Although Messi has provided the same number of assists as Dembele, who is in second place on the list, the reason for his third place is the low level of difficulty of the matches in which he played. The difficulty level of the matches in which the Argentine footballer played last year is stated as 0.99.
Our national footballer Hakan Calhanoglu, who plays for Inter, managed to become the only Turkish footballer on the list.

Çalhanoğlu led teammates off 10 goals in 1.08 average games last year and is ranked 25th on his list.
Dusko Tadic, Ahmed Syed and Emil Hansson are the players who, numerically, make the most assists.

Ajax’s Dusko Tadic, Zamalek’s Ahmed Syed and Hercules’ Emil Hansson tied for first place with 19 assists each last year. Kevin De Bruyne, who directly scored 18 goals last year, is in second place on this list.
