Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov criticized US foreign policy.
“The United States needs to change its behavior regarding the new strategic arms reduction treaty (START),” Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov said.
Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov, in an interview with the Russian state agency TASS, made statements regarding the New Strategic Arms Reduction Treaty (START).
Blaming the American side for suspending the START treaty with the US, Lavrov said: “There are no contacts with the US regarding START. They protest our decision by sending us a note explaining that we have no right to make this decision. These are all legally trivial arguments. We expressed this very clearly both in the statement of Russian President Vladimir Putin and in our own statement (in the statement of the Russian Foreign Ministry). We said that the United States is undermining the fundamental principles on which the agreement is based. “In order to maintain contact with the US on this issue, they need to change their own behavior and observe civil principles in the conduct of interstate relations, including the principles contained in New START,” he said.
