Elon Musk has signed many controversial apps since buying Twitter. Paid blue checkmarks, tweet restriction, and more… As a result, people started looking for a new platform similar to Twitter. In the process, Instagram owner Meta was quietly preparing to launch a new Twitter rival app called Threads in the near future. The app is now available. Threads is an application that Meta launched as a competitor to Twitter. Last night it became active from 00:00 and has already exceeded 15 million users. This number is expected to grow exponentially in the near future. Therefore, the reaction of social networks was not long in coming. Let’s look at some of them.
According to the Meta’s official description; “Discussions is a place where communities come together to discuss everything from the topics they care about today to what will be trending tomorrow.”
In the application, you can directly follow and communicate with other people who are interested in what interests you. Or you can create your own audience to share your ideas, opinions and creativity.
Threads allows you to log into your Instagram account and quickly follow people you already follow.

The meta probably went down this path to grow the app’s user base quickly, and if you’re already following someone on Instagram, you’ll want to interact with them in threads.
Threads have threads, just like Twitter has tweets.

So when you post a new post, we can tell that you posted a new topic. The user interface is very similar to Twitter. In other words, you see the thread’s message, and underneath it there is a Like, Comment, and Retweet (also known as Retweet) button. You can also set privacy levels for the topic you are posting.
Is this the end of Twitter?

Probably no. At least not in the short term. But Threads represents the biggest problem for Twitter since Musk took office. Unlike other Twitter alternatives like Bluesky and Post, Threads has a large and well-funded engineering team. And because it’s based on Instagram, Threads’ user base is growing rapidly, which could bring more people to the platform and provide another option for users who are tired of Twitter’s growing restrictions and bugs.
Of course, with the advent of an app competing with Twitter, one of the most used social media platforms, users have started getting funny reactions. Here’s the reaction from social media…
