Forbes, a prestigious business magazine based in the US, has released its 2023 Billionaires List, which includes the richest people in 2023. Elon Musk, who topped the list announced last year and was named the world’s richest businessman in 2022, has dropped to second place due to a significant loss of fortune this year. Bernard Arnault, chairman of the French conglomerate LVMH, which includes world-famous brands such as Louis Vuitton and Sephora, took first place in the list of billionaires in 2023. In the list of 2640 people, 26 rich names from Turkey found their place. On the other hand, the 2023 billionaires list also showed some remarkable data. Let’s look at the details together.
The American magazine Forbes has published a list of billionaires in 2023, which includes the richest people in 2023.
The list, which includes 2640 people, also includes well-known rich people such as Elon Musk, Jeff Bezos, Mark Zuckerberg and Bill Gates. But the richest man in the world is not one of those familiar names.
According to the list, the richest man of the year was Bernard Arnault, chairman of the LVMH holding.

The holding includes world famous brands such as Louis Vuitton and Sephora. The 74-year-old French businessman ranks first on the list of the richest people in 2023 with a net worth of $211 billion. However, it is clear that the French billionaire has increased his fortune from $158 billion in 2022 to $211 billion, that is, he has become significantly richer over the past year.
Elon Musk, who was the richest person in the world last year, is in second place on the 2023 list of billionaires.

Moreover, if we compare the data announced last year and the data released this year, it can be seen that Musk has largely “impoverished”. With a net worth of $219 billion last year, Musk is second on the list with $180 billion this year.
Jeff Bezos, CEO of Amazon, is in third place on the list with a net worth of $114 billion.

Larry Ellison, chairman of software company Oracle, is in fourth place on the list with a reported net worth of $107 billion, while American investor Warren Buffett is in fifth place on the list with $106 billion.
Bill Gates, the founder of Microsoft and one of the former richest people on the list, manages to land in sixth place on the list with $104 billion. Meta founder Mark Zuckerberg is the 16th richest person of the year with a net worth of $64.4 billion.
In the list of billionaires out of 2640 people, 26 names are from Turkey.

According to the 2023 Billionaires List, the richest person in Turkey is Ibrahim Erdemoglu, owner of SASA Polyester Sanayi A.Ş. Although Erdemoglu is the richest man in Turkey with a fortune of $5.3 billion, he is in the 497th place in the general list.
Murat Ülker, board member of Yıldız Holding, is on the second step of the list of the richest people in Turkey. Ulker’s net worth is $5 billion. On the other hand, Ülker is ranked 534th in the list of the richest people in the world. The first ten names from Turkey to be included in the list of billionaires in 2023 are: Ibrahim Erdemoglu, Murat Ulker, Ali Erdemoglu, Semahat Sevim Arsel, Ipek Kirac, Mustafa Rahmi Koç, Shaban Cemil Kazanci, Erman Ilicak, Filiz Shahenk and Sezay Bakaksiz.
The 2023 Billionaires List also showed some interesting data. Accordingly, the number of billionaires, which was 2,668 in 2022, has dropped to 2,640 this year.

In addition, it can be seen that the overall wealth of billionaires in the world has decreased significantly. If last year the total fortune of the world’s billionaires was 12 trillion 700 billion dollars, then this year it remained at the level of 12 trillion 200 billion dollars. Parallel analysis of the list shows that half of the billionaires are poorer than last year.
However, the interesting data revealed by the list of billionaires is not limited to this. For example, according to the data from the list, the most billionaires in the United States. Of the 2,640 billionaires on the list, 735 are in the US. In other words, the US is the country with the most billionaires in the world. The US is followed by China with 562 billionaires and India with 169 billionaires.
