President Recep Tayyip Erdogan said: “Since the May 14 and 28 elections are behind us, we now have the opportunity to focus more on the problems of our country. From now on, we will devote all our energy and time to the development of Turkey and the needs of our nation.”
President Recep Tayyip Erdogan has released a video message on the occasion of Eid al-Adha.
Erdogan said in his message:
I heartily congratulate you on the blessed holiday of Eid al-Adha. We endlessly thank our Lord for bringing us to another Eid al-Adha with health, peace and prosperity. I wish Eid al-Adha will bring blessings to our families, our people, the Islamic world and all mankind. Holidays are blessed days when we remember our unity, solidarity and the eternal brotherhood of the nation. Eid al-Adha is a fertile time when sacrifice, exchange and solidarity reach their peak.
“We are determined to complete the construction of 650,000 earthquake-resistant houses”
I believe that Eid al-Adha will strengthen the atmosphere of brotherhood among our citizens in these months when our hearts are on fire due to the February 6 earthquakes. On this occasion, I once again remember the more than 50,000 of our lives lost in the catastrophe of the century and pray that their families will be patient. We continue our efforts without interruption to heal the wounds of the earthquake and return our earthquake victims to their new homes as soon as possible. We have maintained this sensitivity through the election period that we have left behind. Frequently visiting our brothers and sisters in the earthquake area, we shared their pain and personally followed the work being done in the field. Our construction and revitalization activities continue at full speed. We hope that from October-November we will start commissioning the first batch of earthquake-resistant houses in stages. As we promised our people, we are determined to build a total of 650,000 earthquake-resistant houses, 319,000 of which will be built within the first year.
“The winner of the elections is undoubtedly the whole of Türkiye”
With the elections of May 14 and 28 behind us, we now have the opportunity to focus more on the problems of our country. From now on, we will devote all our energy and time to the development of Turkey and the needs of our nation. From here, I would like to express my gratitude to all the representatives of my beloved nation and my expatriate brothers abroad, who, with their strong support, gave us 2 days of democracy between 2 holidays. Fortunately, Turkey successfully held one of its most important elections with a record turnout of up to 90 percent, in an atmosphere of envy that the whole world was watching as part of a celebration of democracy. The undisputed winner of the elections was Türkiye with its 85 million population. At the same time, our country received gold for another 5 years, which it will spend filled with services, works, investments and reforms. We will work shoulder to shoulder with our cabinet and alliance partners to earn the trust of our people.
On the morning of May 29, we will turn our Turkish century, which we began to build, from a dream into reality with the permission of Allah. Our goal is to turn the new century of our republic into a new era, a new upsurge, a new social reconciliation in all aspects of our people’s struggle for independence and future. We prepared for this, formed a staff, set goals. Let’s hope that we will definitely reach the “Turkish Age” ridge, going in the direction chosen by our nation. We will work with love for the next 5 years, as we have worked for the last 21 years, and we will never compromise on our work and service policies. I say that my Lord can open our way and our fortune.
With the intention of fulfilling the obligation of the pilgrimage, I pray to my Lord that the worship of our brothers who are now on holy ground will be accepted. I ask all our citizens who travel on the roads to visit Eid al-Adha and the holidays to strictly observe the rules of the road. I wish you a blessed Eid al-Adha for all of us and once again I cordially greet you. Happy Holidays.
