1. Lady Bird – Ladybug (2017) – IMDB: 7.4

At the top of our list of recommended films for the weekend is Lady Bird, a 2017 film by American director, actress and screenwriter Greta Gerwig. Starring American actress Saoirse Ronan, the film stars Laurie Metcalfe, Tracy Letts, Lucas Hedges, Timothée Chalamet and Beanie Feldstein in supporting roles.

In the year of its release, Lady Bird, which won the admiration of many cinephiles and filmmakers, was nominated in 5 categories, including Best Original Screenplay and Best Picture, at the 90th Academy Awards, proving that the positive reviews she received from the film world were not in vain.

Voted one of the “best films of the 2010s” by some major film publishers, Lady Bird focuses on the chaotic and strained relationship of high schooler Kristin McPherson (Saoirse Ronan), who calls herself Ladybug, with her mother and life. 3. You were never here – you were never here (2017) – IMDB: 6.7

We continue our weekly list of recommended films with You Were Never There, an action thriller directed by Scottish director Lynn Ramsey, who has been out for a long time since the acclaimed production of We Need to Talk About Kevin.

Joaquin Phoenix, one of the most popular actors of recent years, plays the title role in the film, which was filmed in 2017 based on the novel of the same name by American writer Jonathan Ames. Ekaterina Samsonova and John Doman help Phoenix in this exciting story.

David Lowery brings the emotional tale of a sad ghost in existential crisis to the silver screen, in a production where his mastery of cinematic atmosphere is at its peak.

Australian director Benedict Andrews joins audiences in the shocking 2016 drama Una, adapted from David Harrower’s play Blackbird. What makes the film stand out is that the cast, made up of the likes of Una, Rooney Mara, Ben Mendelsohn, Riz Ahmed, Ruby Stokes, Tara Fitzgerald, Natasha Little and Tobias Menzies, did a great job from start to finish.

With names like Takashi Shimura, Haruo Tanaka, and Chiaki Minoru, this Kurosawa masterpiece has spent most of its life serving the boring and insufferable Japanese bureaucracy; He brings to the big screen the story of an old and lonely civil servant who perceives even the news that he has cancer as an important and valuable innovation in his life.

8. James White (2015) – IMDB: 7.1

At the bottom of our weekly movie recommendation list is James White, a drama film written and directed by American director Josh Mond. The film features actors such as Christopher Abbott, Cynthia Nixon, Scott Mescudi, Ron Livingston, Mackenzie Lee and David Call.

James White focuses on a dark, troubled and equally sad period in the life of the eponymous character. James White, a hedonist in his 20s who has fully adjusted to the hectic life of New York, learns that his mother is mercilessly ill while his father has just passed away.

These dramatic events in his life force White to take on more responsibilities and take on a completely different character than he is now.
