66 aftershocks after the Kahramanmaras earthquake

According to the AFAD statement, the earthquake with a magnitude of 7.4 occurred at a depth of 7 kilometers. While many buildings were damaged by the earthquake that hit at 04:17 am, unfortunately many of our citizens were killed or injured.

The earthquake, whose epicenter was in the Pazardzhik region of Kahramanmarash, occurred in a total of 10 different cities along with Kahramanmarash.

In cities where the earthquake was strong, many buildings were damaged and many buildings were destroyed. However, according to an official statement made not so long ago, unfortunately, 284 people died in 10 different cities as a result of the earthquake and 2,323 people were injured.

After the earthquake, many cities, especially in Kahramanmarash, experienced strong aftershocks.

In its latest statement on its Twitter account, AFAD said that there have been many aftershocks in Kahramanmarash and nearby towns since the magnitude 7.4 earthquake. Moreover, according to the statement, some aftershocks are no different from large earthquakes!

According to AFAD, a total of 66 aftershocks occurred in the region, of which 3 were above 6 and 14 were above 5.

Out of 66 aftershocks, 34 are more than 4! The areas where strong aftershocks occur intensely are the Pazardzhik region in Kahramanmarash, which is also the epicenter of the 7.4 magnitude earthquake, the Islahiye and Nurdagi regions in Gaziantep, and the Gölbashi regions in Adiyaman. In addition, strong aftershocks are said to have occurred in Yenikapı Elazığ and Erkenek in Malatya.

Search and rescue work continues in earthquake-affected areas

It is reported that 3 people were taken out from under the rubble of a 3-storey building in Kilis, which collapsed as a result of an earthquake. One person was rescued from the rubble of a 14-story building in Adana. On the other hand, it is noted that intensive search and rescue work continues in many buildings destroyed by the earthquake.
