Most people prefer to stay in hotels on business trips or on vacation. In some hotels it can really be as comfortable as at home. That’s why it’s so important to be clean.
Most hotels have housekeeping and room service staff, but these places often have hundreds of rooms. In this case, sometimes cleaning can be superficial or done just for show. Whether you’re staying at a luxury five-star resort or a mid-range hotel chain, you can never be 100 percent sure of cleanliness. Therefore, it is necessary for your health to make a major overhaul of your room. Here’s what to look out for:

1. Keys, levers, and other common ground are critical

Surfaces with a high contact rate can become a breeding ground for germs if they are not properly wiped down. Imagine that after touching such a place, you bring your hand to your mouth. It’s really nauseating. Fortunately, the solution is very simple. You can get rid of this problem by taking disinfecting wet wipes with you on your next trip. Use these wipes to wipe the following contacts as soon as you enter your room. It may be a little difficult, but it’s not important for your health.

  • light switches
  • tables
  • bathroom sink faucets
  • bedside tables
  • TV remote
  • door knob
  • Dresser knobs and buttons
  • toilet handle
  • telephone
  • mini fridge handle
  • hair dryer

2. Coffee machines

Hotel

Hotel rooms often have tea and coffee makers. However, these machines may not be properly cleaned between guests entering and exiting. There are even legends that some people wash dirty linen in teapots.

If you would like to drink coffee in hotels instead of using the vending machines in your room, you can order a drink from the hotel bar. If you say you won’t use it, we recommend that you wash your car thoroughly because it may contain mold or bacteria.

3. Plates, bowls and glasses

Many hotel rooms still have glass cups. You do not know how and when these items were last cleaned in your room. Even though these goggles don’t look dusty or dirty, it would be great if you wash them thoroughly before use.

4. Towels and sheets

Towels, sheets and pillowcases can be the most important thing to bring on vacation. While this item may seem a bit extreme, you never know when or how these items were washed.

5. Keep your shoes on

Whether you bring your own slippers or use the ones the hotel has, whatever you do, don’t walk barefoot in hotel rooms. Even though maids vacuum the rooms between stays, hotel carpets can contain all sorts of germs and bacteria. You can get fungus, infections and more from these carpets. So be careful.
